With limited access to email and being down for the count with an illness, oh and being a new mommy to a 16 month old, I haven't been able to keep up with the blog. Thus....here are the details of our special Gotcha Day.
We had all morning to kill. We weren't meeting our guide until 1:30pm.
We worked on our journal, Skyped with friends/family.
We walked around the city. Ken & I wanted lunch, I had to keep moving.
So many distractions should have helped but I kept thinking of our son. Was he on his way to Nanjing? How was he getting there? Was he scared? Was he excited with all the new sights? Was he okay?
2 Hours to Kill.
Found lunch at Papa Johns. For me, a Hawaiian pizza, for Ken, snacks.
The hotel staff rolled a crib in.
Freaked Out.
Clock moving way too slow.
Heart racing way too fast.
And then it was time to head to the lobby to meet our guides Nancy & Sarah.
Deep Breaths.
Got in the van.
Deep Breaths.
Waiting in a freezing cold room.
And then we saw him outside of the window. His nannies were bringing him in.
And then this....
His tears did not stop for hours.
We had a chance to visit with his nanny and the director from his orphanage. They gave us a book from Half the Sky which was started when Liam was brought to the orphanage. It is such a treasure to have a baby book for our little man.
Tears started again - mine and his.
We got him back to the hotel room and watched as God worked his glory and Liam began to open up.
He is quite. simply. awesome.

I'm glad you're better. Hope you're having a wonderful time with all the other families today!
