THERE ARE JUST SOME THINGS THAT MAKE YOUR HEART ACHE....
For the past couple of years I have felt a calling to become a missionary. Its tough to explain, but something fills up inside of me when i talk to fellow missionaries and see photos of folks on mission tripS. Helping people has always been something i have longed to do and lately i have struggled to find a way to answer my missionary call within my life. I will continue to pray about it and have asked others to pray for me too. I know that God will keep his hands on me and lead me in his direction.
In the mean time I wanted to share these amazing photos with you. Our friends Ben & Allison recently attended a mission trip to Masindi Uganda with Palmetto Medical Initative (PMI). This organization is something else! PMI was created by our friends buddy to provide sustainable quality health care to those in need while increasing accessibility to global medial missions.

We recently went out with Ben & Allison to hear about their trip. They told us some heart felt stories to say the least.
When the arrived in Masindi Uganda they visited the clinic that has rrecenlty been built by PMI and its volunteers. They saw where the Labor and Delivery ward is under construction. For the next five days they would travel sometimes as much as 3.5 hours to create clinics in rural parts of Uganda where there is no easy access to medical care. Most days the clinics would be in old school houses and/or a church. The conditions were rough, the roads were sometimes almost impassable and the weather was warm but the all-consuming love you felt from each and every smiling face encouraged you each day.
This is what the lines looked like outside of the clinics each day. A women with no legs crawled 2 miles to get to the clinic and at the end of the day the tears came as they watched her wheel herself away in a wheelchair!
Allison fell in love with this baby. Her sister was on the trip with her and was told by her parents to not bring any babies home! :)
This little girl was seen by the team in Sudanse refugee camp. Her heart was physically beating outside of her chest. The team was able to fix her up by using the back of a chair tied around her ribs to act as a breast plate. This photo says it all. God is good.
Allison said it was heartwarming to see the providers praying with their patients and providing spiritual support as well as medical interventions.
And this sweet lady did not want to give Allison her fancy sunglasses back!
The last day of the mission trip and after treating over 1,000 patients in various parts of Uganda
PMI took the group on an African Safari to see
animals in
their natural habitat.
And so with heavy heart Ben and Allison flew home for Christmas knowing they will one day return to Uganda - perhaps with their pals Hope & Ken. :)
